Snippets!

Hi everyone, I decided it was time for a little play with my snippets, and this is what I came up with!

A very CAS creation, but one that seemed to fit the bill for how my cardmaking brain was feeling this morning.

The image is from a magazine giveaway called Sweet Samantha and the sentiment comes from Sassy and Classy true Friends by Crafters Companion. 

I'm linking up to Snippets Playground Challenge #454 and, after I've been to the hairdressers, I'll grab a cuppa and look through the entries!

Let's Squash It! Challenge #23 - Don't Be So Square

There's a fun new challenge over at Let's Squash It! where we're asking you join us in making shaped cards as we play...

Gail and I are joined by our July Empress, Emma from Trenouths Crafty Creations and I know you'll love the card she's made for this challenge.

I knew I wanted to make a star shaped card, but unfortunately my star dies are very small. However, I'm quite pleased with the end result even if it is tiny!

I decided to emboss the MFT patterned paper using a new to me EF from Cuttlebug and Kirsty Allsop called Swiggles. I don't think it's available anymore, which is a pity as it's really sweet. The sentiment is from Beary Special Birthday by MFT and the little chef is from a magazine freebie called Here Come the Girls. 

I'm going to link up at Die Cut Divas who are also playing shaped cards. Such gorgeous cards from the DT - go take a look!

Emma and Gail have created two beautiful cards for this challenge, which I know you'll want to see, so don't be square and come and play along!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #173 - P is for Penguin

It's time for a brand new challenge over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and to be honest this one has proved a little tricky as it was all about P is for Penguin.

I couldn't summon any snark because, well, PENGUINS, so I went with funny and cute instead!

He was a freebie with Making Cards Magazine and I always enjoy inking him up as he's such a cutie.

It's time for another Christmas Kickstart Challenge!

We've now reached July and this is the month where Christmas Kickstart changes from monthly challenges to fortnightly challenges, so hold onto your hats as we speed towards Christmas!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #33 - Hatty Christmas

Yes, for this fortnight we'd like to see a HAT or HATS on your cards, please, and you can see Gail's cute creation for this challenge over on the CKC blog.

This is Pablo the Penguin! Isn't he cute? He's a magazine freebie from Making Cards Magazine and has a few friends in the set too. The knitted effect background is called Knitted Sweater by MFT and the sentiment if from Mama Elephant. 

For my second card I went with a sweet Santa (after all, he is wearing a hat!) and a super CAS style.

Rudolph has another lovely Random Raffle Prize to award to one lucky participant - just look at all those gorgeous sentiments!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #30 - Reminder

It's reminder time for Challenge #30 - Winter Wonderland (Create a Scene) over at Christmas Kickstart.

During April we've been inspired by fabulous guest elf, Jane from Purplejet Loves Crafts.

From reading your comments at CKC I know just how many of you were as 'wowed' by Jane's card as I was.  For my reminder card I decided to make an 'inspired by' version of Jane's sweet original.

I didn't add a sentiment to the front of the card, but may produce an inny with wording something like 'The first snowflake of Winter'. The dies I used are from Clearly Besotted, and Sizzix and the very cute bunnies are from a free 18 piece set given away in Making Cards magazine a little while ago.

Both myself and Jane hope you'll come and play along in this fun challenge!

Seize the Birthday #163 - Anything Goes!

As you may well know I'm a big fan of Seize the Birthday and although I'm sure I should be making Easter cards, I'm in full birthday card mode today! I blame the Seize-ettes for having an Anything Goes Challenge on offer.

After seeing Jane's cards featuring this image on her blog, I decided to take the plunge and order the set from Making Cards Magazine.

Picket Fence also have this image available, but with only the one sentiment. Their version is slightly smaller.

I'm so glad I got the magazine version as you get several fun sentiments in addition to the sweet main image.

First of all I made the blue card. I was going to colour the girls, but got a little heavy handed with the stencil work (Tim Holtz Roses stencil). I decided to leave the image uncoloured as I quite liked the effect.

Card #2 turned out more like I'd imagined:

I think I prefer this version.

I tried to capture the sparkle of Wink of Stella on this shot - can you see it? Nope, nor me!
