The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #194 - U is for Ugly

I doubt Edna's kitchen will be gracing the front cover of House Beautiful Magazine anytime soon, but who knows - styles change!

We are playing U is for Ugly this fortnight over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

I took a little while to get going with this one, but once I'd found the words I knew immediately which image I'd use!

The background is one I created a few weeks ago with my Gelli Plate. The stamp is from VLVS. I added some washi tape to look like she's sat at a table. The other stamps visible on the card are from Funky Fossil.

My teamies have created some amazing cards for this challenge, so please head over, take a look and play along!

Let's Squash It! Challenge #12 - Let's Sand It Inspiration

Hi there, we're sanding stuff over at Let's Squash It! for the whole of September.

I was interested in the possibilities of sanding a cardstock that didn't have a core and so set to work on some Bazzils card. It's such a pity that you can't see/touch what a great texture this produced - it feels so soft and velvety IRL. I enhanced the effect with some gold Vera Color ink.

The stamp set is Vintage Plonk from Hobby Art and the embossing folder is Sizzix Texture Fades Tim Holtz Folder Numeric, which seems to be currently unavailable.

There's still plenty of time to play along in our current challenge, so please head on over and join the fun!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #54 - Reminder

September is flying by so fast that I 've been caught on the hop a little with this reminder post!

This month our lovely elf is Anesha from Crafting Queen!

I really love the card Anesha made to inspire us for this challenge. I would have loved to have made a shaped card myself but I just don't have any unusual shaped dies and so sadly I abandoned the idea.

Instead I took my inspiration from the snowman's hat and scarf and grabbed this as the colour combo for my card. I always love traditional red and green on a Christmas card, don't you?

This little cutie is Reindeer Games from Art Impressions. Unfortunately, I can't find a link to an 'in stock' set anywhere.  The papers are some Tim Holtz leftovers.

As always, Rudolph has been shopping and has this cute sentiment on offer as his Random Raffle Prize for this challenge.

I do hope you'll come over and play along in this challenge - turns out it's 100 days to Christmas today!

Let's Squash It! Challenge #12 - Sand It!

There's a fun new challenge starting today at Let's Squash It!

For the whole of September we'd like to see you use a numerical or alphabetical embossing folder AND the sanding technique!

We have a brilliant guest to inspire and impress (see what I did there?) and a terrific Technique Time from Gail to get you in the mood.

This is what I made. I used Sizzix Texture Fades/Tim Holtz - Numeric Folder and embossed a piece of Duplex card which is pink on one side and orange on the other. By sanding the pink I revealed the orange layer. This is a fun, but fairly messy technique as I ended up with clouds of paper powder!

My stamps are Art Impressions Giant Cake and a sentiment from MFT Birthdays Take the Cake and I coloured the image to complement the background.

I very much hope you come and join us at Let's Squash It!

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #54 - Funny Ho, Ho!

There's another new challenge starting today over at Christmas Kickstart and I'm delighted to be joined by the very lovely Anesha M from Crafting Queen!

Our theme for this month is:

Challenge #54 - Funny Ho, Ho!

We'd like to see comical, amusing, funny Christmas cards. There may be a 'Ho, Ho!' in the title, but your card doesn't have to feature Santa; Santa's are entirely optional for this challenge!

My card uses Art Impressions stamp - Cheers To You! This fun set seems to be out of stock everywhere, so I've linked to something vaguely similar. The beautiful background stamp is W Plus 9 - Merriest Snowflake, which also features on my second card. I used a cute sentiment die from Stamplorations for the centre of this and added a stamped sentiment that has been sitting in my stash for a while.

Rudolph has chosen with another gorgeous Random Raffle Prize. For this challenge he's chosen a very cute 'naughty but nice' sentiment from Crafter's Companion. Nice work, Rudolph!
I very much hope you'll join Anesha and me and come and play along!

The Lost Coast Portal to Creativity - Movie Mania Challenge

There's another fabulous challenge on offer over at The Lost Coast where the gang are playing with the theme Movie Mania!

I had to give this one a bit of thought before finally coming up with this little slice of craziness! I really love this cute VLVS image called Lady Drinking Tea in Box. I made two Gelli prints to look like a sea scene and then die cut the second print to create waves. I thought the saying went well with the theme of the card.

Can you guess the movie? Well, it's just got to be Titanic hasn't it!

I really enjoyed making this card, so thanks to everyone at Lost Coast for yet more fun and inspiration.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - P is for Paper Piecing

The sistahs have been having a great time creating cards for our newest challenge: P is for Paper Piecing!

I have to admit that I love paper piecing. I know it's not as fashionable as it was, but it gives such cute, fun results and I was happy to utilise some scraps of DP to play along. I've used older stamps for my card and unfortunately, neither of them appear to be available.

Similar stamps to the coffee loving gal can be found at Art Impressions Hot Java, but I've yet to spot anything similar to Impression Obsession Smell the Coffee, which is such a pity as it's a great set.

I hope you'll come and play along with us!

Card Chain Challenge - August 2021 Reveal

It's time for another fabulous reveal over at Card Chain Challenge.

As always, the challenge was to make a card using at least one of options on offer. This month we played with:

Colour Palette Option

(Exact matching is not required.)

Sketch Option

(Orient as desired.)

Theme Options: Movie Magic / The Sea / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Vellum  / Stamping

Here's the card I sent to Tina in Slovenia.

I used a cute MFT set called Gill Friends. I do miss Torico's Birdie Brown range over at MFT, there's just something so appealing about her illustration style.

I was delighted to receive this amazing card from Joanne. I love seahorses, and this one is a beaut.
