The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #264 - H is for Hot, Hot, Hot!

Here in the UK it's been kinda cosy of late, and so it feels just right for the Sisterhood to play Hot, Hot, Hot!

I wanted to make a card with HAPPINESS as the theme and went searching Google for a suitable quote. OK, so this is what I came up with. I know llamas have nothing to do with the heat, but this made me laugh and I just couldn't get past the idea so the card got made!

The colour palette for my painty, inky gel print background is a mix of HOT colours, and the llama is a digi from the fabulous Vera Lane shop.

I hope you'll come and join The Sisterhood and our reigning Good Queen Wendy for this fun challenge!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #134 - W is for WTF?

Poor Edna, we've all had those days when our mind is totally blown by something crazy!
For this challenge the sisterhood are celebrating those WTF? moments.

So, here's my card; I went with a little off-beat humour after finding this brilliant meme...

and adding my own 'punchline' inside. This is the 'WTF?' moment - well, it is in my head anyway!

The girl image comes from a gorgeous Picket Fence set (I soooo wish a UK supplier would stock these fabulous stamps) and this adorable llama is from Vera Lane.

The sistahs have had a brilliant time with this theme, so please take a look at their inspiration and come play along!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #121 - S is for Skull

I'm more than a little concerned for Edna's welfare in our current graphic... She's not looking well.

It's all about SKULLS for our new challenge at SoSS.

This fabulous image from Vera Lane was all I needed for my card today. For some reason (insanity perhaps?) this really tickles my funny bone. I printed out the image and sentiment and then carefully stenciled with Serene Stripes from Newton's Nook. After a quick colour with pencil crayons it was ready to mount. Such a quick and fun make!

Check out the fabulously crazy, and kinda creepy, creations of the sisterhood by clicking here.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stamps Challenge #117 - A is for Apple

I'm liking Edna's latest head gear, but please don't mistake her latest apparel for a hat. This fortnight we are celebrating APPLES for Challenge #113 over at The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.

I discovered that I have zero apple stamps or images in my stash, but was delighted to discover this sweet little Vera Lane cutie with her pineapple head wear! I love her paired with this sentiment.

Why not check-out our latest challenge... I never knew apples could be so punny and amusing! You can find all the fabulousness by heading here...

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #115 - J is for Junk

That's some place you've got there, Edna!

Welcome, welcome, welcome... It's time for another fabulous challenge over at SoSS. This week it's all about recycling, which is a subject close to the hearts of many crafters as we all love to squirrel away interesting bits and pieces to re-use and up-cycle at a later date.

I couldn't resist up-cycling this cute little clothing tag with gesso, stamps, paints, pencil crayons and a Vera Lane sweetie. She looks lovely hanging on the wardrobe door of our spare room and was surprisingly quick and easy to create. The current heat wave is speeding-up the drying process between layers like you wouldn't believe: terrible for the garden, but useful for crafting!

Come and join us as we celebrate all things recyclable!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #95 - Z is for Zombies

Mmmmmm, I have to say, I've seen Edna looking in better shape, and what an interesting perfume she seems to be wearing! Well, let's just not go there.
So, if you've not already guessed, it's Z is for Zombies over at the Sisterhood this month.

I had way too much fun making this quick and simple card. I always think Vera Lane whenever it's Zombie time and Janet never let's me down!

You'll love the sistahs cute and gory zombie creations, so why not lurch over there and take a look!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #87 - A is for Arty

It's mixed-media time over at the Sisterhood for our new challenge.

To be totally honest, I wasn't looking forward to this challenge as I've never considered myself to be a 'mixed media' kinda gal! Once I'd stopped panicking, I decided to use a favourite Vera Lane image; colouring with Promarkers and Prismacolour pencils. I adore Janet's quirky, fun designs.
The background was created with stamps, paints and stencils, and a Waffle Flower die. I LOVED creating the layered background and brayered away to my heart's content... I think I may just be a mixed media girl after all!

I'm pretty pleased with result, and only hope that the recipient likes it!

My super-talented Sistahs are far more confident and competent when it comes to mixed media, so why not go take a look and come get all arty with us for Challenge #87!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #70 - D is for Day of the Dead.

Edna is looking a little pale, and yet, somehow, strangely glamorous with those gorgeous roses in her hair!

I have to be honest and admit that although I'd heard of this festival, I knew little or nothing about it. After some quick Googling, I discovered that Dia de los Muertos is a holiday celebrated in Central and Southern Mexico on 1st and 2nd November. This festival coincided with the Catholic celebration of All Soul's and All Saint's Day and the indigenous people combined this with their own ancient beliefs of honouring their deceased family members. Mexicans believe that the gates of heaven are opened at midnight on October 31st, and that the spirits of all deceased children (angelitos) are allowed to reunite with their families for 24 hours. On November 2nd, the spirits of the adults come down to enjoy the festivities that are prepared for them.

This card was made as an anniversary card for my hubby. I adore Janet Klein's Vera Lane Studio images and would happily buy each and every one of them. I love these two little zombies who are all dressed-up and ready to party!

To see what the Sisterhood have created please head here and be warned, there's some seriously fabulous inspiration waiting for you with zombies and sugar skulls aplenty!

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers - F is for Fugly!

Oh, my goodness! Edna, what are you wearing?

Yes, there's another fabulous, fun challenge to be had over at the Sisterhood: F is for Fugly.

For my offering, I went with the notion that there are few things in life fuglier than a truly horrendous Christmas sweater/jumper.  Hands up if you've ever been forced to wear one of these abominations during the festive season? Actually, I think this little lady (called Lulu) looks surprisingly relaxed about the whole experience but the cat's expression is priceless!

I love these wonderfully, whimsical VeraLaneStudio images by Janet Klein and knew Lulu, and her lurid sweater, would be perfect for this challenge theme. I created the background using Brushos on watercolour paper and then stamped with a favourite Hero Arts background stamp.

Why not take a look at all the fun by heading on over to the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers and then share your own little gems of fugliness!

Simon Says Make Your Own Background...

So I did!

I used my favourite The Crafter's Workshop stencil and Distress Inks to create my background. Then I stamped the sentiments from Mama Elephant's Make a Wish set (so useful!) and added the cat in the hat. This brilliantly funny cat image is a digi stamp from Janet Klein's Vera Lane Studio Etsy Shop. I think he's wonderful, don't you? Finally, I added some stars and swirls from the Make a Wish set and doodled a skinny border.

In addition to playing along with the Wednesday crew at Simon Says Stamp I'm also linking-up with those lovely ladies at Seize the Birthday: its way too long since I last joined them in their birthday-themed fun.

I have to say I had loads of fun making this card. Isn't it great when you create something that just makes you happy!

Happy crafting everyone.
