Leave the puppy alone...

 

It's all about dogs and/or cats over at CAS Christmas for this month's challenge, and what a fun challenge this is! I decided to go for a cat and a dog on my card - can't you just imagine the owner trying to get them to sit nicely for a Christmas photograph?

I used MFT clear stamp sets Cat-astrophe and Happy Pawlidays and kept everything nice and CAS.

Pixie's Snippets Playground - Challenge #395 - In Ruby's Memory

 Hi there, I hope you are all keeping well and safe.

Just before Christmas I was saddened to hear that my blogging buddy, Lynne, and hubby Greg, had lost their sweet, furry companion Ruby.

Having been friends with Lynne for quite a long time I knew what a big gap this gorgeous girl was going to leave behind her. I was delighted to discover that the lovely Di over at Pixie's Crafty Workshop had been similarly moved by Ruby's passing and has now started a regular, themed challenge in her memory. Di's challenge is all about 'snippets' - those little bits and pieces of card and paper that we all have lying around as a byproduct of our cardmaking activities.

I salvaged some snippets of embossed red card that had been horribly chewed by my Cuttlebug and discovered a lovely piece of DP big enough to use as a sweet background for my MFT pups.

Let's Squash It! Challenge #5 - Love and Red

 

Things are really moving along at Let's Squash It! as we start our February challenge Love and Red.

We have a special guest to help us and I know you'll LOVE her fabulous card. Head on over and take a look!

My card was quick and simple to make, although now I'm looking at it again I'm wondering if all that red Distress Ink gives it just a hint of crime scene. 

My EF is a real sweetie: Papermania Heart Pops, and the sentiment is from Ink Road.

The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge #178 - N is for No.

 

Ok, Edna, we get the message! What a great graphic - I think I'd like this on a t-shirt.

I was in the mood for bright and cheery when I made this - can you tell? I used a lovely stencil called Tumbling Hearts from Newton's Nook and paired it with a sentiment from Ink Road which I stamped in a nice, bright ink at the foot of the card.

The sistahs have done an amazing job with this theme and would love you to come and join the fun!

January 2021 Card Chain Challenge - Reveal

It's February 2nd, and there's another gorgeous Reveal on offer over at Card Chain Challenge. 

We had 28 talented friends sign up to play this month. Our Challenge options were as follows:

A fun colour palette

A sweet sketch

Theme options of Flowers, Balloons or Friendship

and

Product options of Colouring or Stencils.

For my card I knew I just had to use those luscious colours. I also went with balloons, colouring and a homemade cloud stencil; there's even a 'nod' at the sketch in there too if you look carefully!

I really enjoyed making this card and was delighted that my recipient Tina in Slovenia seemed to like it. The sweet flying foxes are from The Cat's Pajamas. I love their fun, quirky stamps and just wish that they were easier to import into the UK.

My sender for this month was Annerieke in the Netherlands, and just look at the lovely card she sent!

I'm also going to link my card to Allsorts Challenge where Challenge #609 is Four Legged Friends.

Christmas Kickstart Challenge #47 - Slimline Cards

A new month has arrived and it brings with it a new challenge over at Christmas Kickstart! I'm delighted to welcome a new elf: it's my lovely Card Chain Challenge buddy Arlene M. from A Bit of This and That!

Arlene chose the theme for the challenge and I have to say I was VERY nervous at attempting a slimline card as it's a long time since I'd made anything that wasn't square or a chunky little rectangular number. 

  

Here's what I made for my very first attempt at slimline. Whaddya think?

I love these cute MFT penguins and really enjoyed putting this card together. I thought dividing the card into thirds like this would help cover all the space. I'm quite pleased with the result. I don't have any slimline dies, so carefully extended a smaller die in my Cuttlebug.

Here's card #2, and again I extended a shorter die.

By the time I made this I'd begun to appreciate the 'storytelling potential' of these longer cards and couldn't help playing with perspective to create this with some fabulous Stamping Bella images. I wonder what the reindeer is thinking?
